A man has been remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced on May 15th, after he admitted carrying out a robbery at the First Edition newsagents in Vauxhall Street in January of this year.

A female cashier was punched in the jaw during the robbery in which the thief managed to steal £20 from the till, before making off in the direction of Chapelfield Gardens.
This was not the first robbery carried out by the perportrator, Owen Moore. In 2005, Moore received a four-and-a-half year jail sentence for robbing Tombland News in Tombland. In that case he managed to get away with £800 after hitting the cash register with a lump hammer. He was caught because, in his haste he left behind his prison laundry bag which had his name on it.
