A man has been remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced on May 15th, after he admitted carrying out a robbery at the First Edition newsagents in Vauxhall Street in January of this year.

A female cashier was punched in the jaw during the robbery in which the thief managed to steal 20 from the till, before making off in the direction of Chapelfield Gardens.
This was not the first robbery carried out by the perportrator, Owen Moore. In 2005, Moore received a four-and-a-half year jail sentence for robbing Tombland News in Tombland. In that case he managed to get away with 800 after hitting the cash register with a lump hammer. He was caught because, in his haste he left behind his prison laundry bag which had his name on it.
